Yeah they are pretty much the same thing, sun took NetBeans and basically
rebranded it to make Forte, they also added a few tools for integration with
iPlanet.

I think NetBeans.org is the "same" as the community edition of "forte".. not
sure but NetBeans is open source and seems to work ok (a little slow but
full of skookum features)
