I have done lots of interviews with lots of programmers. My gut instinct is that this guy was admitting a lack of ColdFusion experience, or trying to make a case for HIS programming language of choice.
However, nothing tops an interview I did years ago for a VERY entry level key operator. I asked "Do you know DOS?" The reply was: "No, but I met Tom and Drew a few minutes ago."
