We attempted to upgrade our development server - which is running CF4.5 and
SQL2000 on a Win 2K Server to CF5 . On completing the installation and
doing the configuration settings as described in the documentation, we are
unable to view the ColdFusion Administrator or any other templates. In
fact, even though we had initially applied Windows NT authentication on the
CF administrator directory, we removed it after the install of CF5.
However, we still get the NT authentication challenge when trying to access
the CF administrator.

While attempting to browse the templates we get the following error messages :

"Server busy or unable to fulfill request. The server is unable to fulfill
your request due to extremely high traffic or an unexpected internal error.
Please attempt your request again (if you are repeatedly unsuccessful you
should notify the site administrator). (Location Code: 26) Please inform
the site administrator that this error has occurred (be sure to include the
contents of this page in your message to the administrator)."

We confirmed that the Web Server was indeed running. We confirmed that the
IIS configurations were same as before, and are identical to the production
server, which were fine as long as CF4.5 was running. This message
shouldn't be displayed as we are not stress-testing the server at all.

So we tried uninstalling CF5 and reinstalling it. This time the ColdFusion
Application Server service can't be seen in the Control Panel ! Every
request for a CF template throws up the 'HTTP 500 Internal Server Error.'

Has anybody experienced a similar problem while upgrading / making a fresh
install ? What can we do about this ?

Vishal.
