> I am seeking intermediate to advanced training on using > ColdFusionMX along with MS SQL Server.
It's unlikely that you'll see any training specifically geared to CF MX and SQL Server together. Fortunately, if you know about SQL Server already, everything you know about it more or less is applicable to your CF apps, and if you don't know SQL Server, you'll be well served by taking a course specific to it. > Along with learning CF syntax, I am primarily interested > in learning some advanced ColdFusion concepts like > User Defined Functions, COM, XML, WebServices, etc. There are very few courses which cover this sort of stuff in depth, primarily because there really isn't that much to it. Shortly after the release of CF MX, Fig Leaf will be offering a "What's New in CF MX" course geared to experienced CF developers; I think it'll probably be a one-day lecture, but I'm not sure yet. Check http://training.figleaf.com/ for more details after CF MX is released. However, if you want to take courses to learn CF right now, there's nothing stopping you. The current CF courses offered by Macromedia, and MM training partners like Fig Leaf, are largely still applicable to CF MX - that is, the stuff you'll learn in those courses using CF 5 will still be valid when CF MX comes out. You can check the MM course schedule online for more information about the current classes. On the other hand, if you already know CGI programming from another environment, you might be just as well served by teaching yourself, using books and online resources. CF is pretty much like any other scripting language used for CGI programming, it's just simpler than those languages. So, for example, you might just take an application that you built with your language and convert it to CF, and by the time you're done, you'll have a good handle on it. In addition, to learn about specific topics, you might look at some of the CFUG presentations and other stuff floating around on the web - that stuff is more likely to cover what are often niche topics. We sponsor several CFUGs at Fig Leaf, and you can find our presentations here: http://www.cfugorama.com/. Our latest CFUG covered new stuff in CF MX and Dreamweaver MX. Finally, for COM-specific information, you might take a look at http://www.cfcomet.com/.
