We do it with no problems at all. What errors are you getting? Have you
installed the oracle client software on your server and have you set up an
entry for the db you're looking for in the tnsnames.ora file in the
network\admin\ directory of your local oracle directory? 
What version of CF are you using, if it's the enterprise then you're better
off using the native drivers that come with it.
