I know this only answers part of your question, but yes there is I have seen many sites that over d/l’s that get around this in particular with popup windows.

 

I know some of the M$ website has sections that get around this too. Sorry I haven’t come across details about it, but just to let you know that I have seen what you’re asking for on a lot of sites already.

Is there a way to get around the security alert internet explorer give users under windows xp about blocking active content?  you know, the one where the yellow bar appears at the top of the browser.
