Hi Mike, In my experience SWFObject (see Justin's link) is the best around at this stage. Not only is it simple as pie to set up, but it also does flash detection and is search engine friendly!
One problem I had is with users on low bandwidth seeing the HTML (non-flash) content before the Flash has a chance to load. To get around this I had the content within the non-flash div hidden (using CSS) then onload() make it visible.
