Heya,

Yeah, web expression has been getting some thumbs up from my end. I'm still
getting to know it and what not, but going from UI design to say WPF or
WPF/E (using BLEND) is so streamlined it doesn't require thought at all. So
I'll blog more on that later.

Microsoft do have a compelling story to tell in terms of development
environment. It's one thing to focus on the output and compare the two (i'll
leave that to the politics) but if you're correct when it comes to the input
(developers, developers, developers as Mr Balmer once said). Its fairly
streamlined and easy to run with.

Its still lite in some places, such as Sidebar Gadget Development. In that
I'm building one now for a VIP Client to illustrate some power, and
essentially it requires you to take leaps of faith in terms of code then
debug/preview (pretty much similiar to the AJAX approach). SideBar Gadgets
for the CF'er is JavaScript & HTML. So you can make a SideBar gadget in
windows Vista that talks to Coldfusion WSDL quite easily (in fact thats what
I plan to do over next week).

the API is realistically a Microsoft hand-rolled AJAX approach to things.
The added benefit though is you can automate your hard work using the
Microsoft.FeedManager API (so RSS is a breeze). So I think from the
Coldfusion Developer perspective there is some harmony here in terms of
using it to display CFML driven goodness if need be (hell you can even embed
an IFRAME into SideBar Gadget that has FLASH inside that or CFML rolled
HTML).

Let me know if i'm overselling the MS stuff but I do believe that folks here
can find some harmony with Windows Vista and coldfusion quite easily -
fingers in both barrells, why not I say....
