Just avoid the use of tables in your html markup and use CSS instead and it will be much easier
Use DIVS to divide up the content into logical groups and you'll be able to have a CSS style sheet for a 22" screen and another for you fancy little gadget. That's one of the primary objectives that CSS was designed to enable. Now is the time to learn CSS. designing multiple layouts for different uses holds no threat for me after a while using CSS. It would have scared me somewhat when i started on CSS but not any longer. It will be the same for you.
