George, I'm not saying you're wrong, you're just not 100% correct :)

Any instances that exist in a location other that /Jrun4/servers will not be
upgraded. For example;

E:\Jrun4\server\cfusion (will be updated)
E:\Jrun4\server\cfusion2 (will be updated)
 E:\cfusion3 (will NOT be updated)

Further more, instances that are not upgraded are rendered useless. They
must be deleted and recreated.
