Steve,

The problem with CSS based options is that not all browsers implement them,
I know I saw code in a CSS style that would dynamically change the width of
an element based on certain conditions. But it would not work on the
browsers that it should/need to work on.

One day the browsers may just catch up.

I cant use jquery as i am currently using mootools but i can do the same
thing and is an option i am thinking of doing. basically have to get all
the links on the page and check to see if the link has an image in it and f
it does apply a class to it to remove the border on hover.

would have preferred a CSS based option but this may have to do.
