"The" website is one URL, a cluster of websites/machines, but in reality it is a bunch of individual websites that just happen to be the same so give each one its own URL as well as the common one and then you can see them individually. EG: ww1.my.webite; ww2.my.website, etc.
Viable in your context? (a lot depends on how the cluster is set up but that is how we do it)
