If I'm writing a Java class, I don't want to be confined to J2EE web apps.
If I didn't mind, I'd just write a CFC.


Wonderful, but that doesn't help you write a Java class that works with CFMX now does it? Bottom line is that if you want to work with CFMX you are confined to J2EE. Sure it may be desirable from your perspective to not be confined in this manner, but that has nothing to do with what this thread is about since the poster clearly indicated the need to call a CFC from Java.
