Not in the CFc per se, but the method. If method FOO() uses variables, x, y,
and z, and those are NOT arguments that are passed in, and are NOT
(intentionally) global CFC vars, then yes, you MUST var scope them. (And
when I say MUST, I mean, you should, unless you want to risk life and limb,
the end of the world, etc.)

By the way - did you see Nathans post? I'm pretty sure he has the main
answer to your problem.
