I didn't used to be able to, but I can now refer to "org.foo..." paths for CFCs in my shared hosting account -- where my "web root" is definitely not in any CF-related root (not where CFIDE or where WEB-INF is), so it must be possible somehow. (I cannot, however, call it as "/org/foo...")
