That is a little confusing, how would you suggest this then. An example would be nice, however this is exactly how Mach-II handles things. If a child needs other information from another child it needs to relate this from the parent, and this method is a good way to ask the parent what the other child knows. Examples would be nice, but like I said how can you claim this is not a good method when Mach-II is entirely built this way.
