I have a components directory where the website that I'm working on has a subdirectory for cfcs under the main components directory. I have added the top level components directory to the custom tag path and I have a mapping to that directory also.
You need the directory *above* that...
My website invokes the component like createObject('component',
'components.sitename.cfcname');
...the directory on the custom tag path needs to be the one that contains 'components'.
But you say 'components' is directly under your webroot? I'd expect it to find those components anyway...
