Point taken :)
I should clarify, this isn't something our host (and 'host' is a little misleading, we're partners, they do hosting, we do development) is forcing us to do, it's a request by the sysadmin to make his job easier :) From the discussion so far, though, I think the best route is to continue using cfschedule, but to add in better error checking and reporting, and update any older sites that required manual setting or tweaking of scheduled tasks. I like Peter Farrell's suggestion to build my own 'mini-CF Admin' and will likely do that.
As I said, it's really not a technical issue. The server only has a few tasks scheduled at any given time. They use sandboxes for security, and so each client has his own space, I'm not sure how sandboxing affects the scheduler. Overall, our restrictions on the server are much less than going with another host, and, as I said, we're business partners so it's not just a 'client-host' relationship.
Anyway, thanks for all the suggestions, you've helped me reach a conclusion. :)

I'm not saying it's a bad host - but if they don't meet the needs of a specific client or provide a specific required service, then ya need to find a host that does!
