I was running into a problem with pages running slow. It turns out the problem was not with my Web page nor spyware, it was IE configuration. If the browser has a MSN search panel open and extra tool bars like google or msn, these features can send extra hidden get requests. By closing the search panel and changing the toolbar options the extra gets went away. It appears these features act like framesets when loading a page. A new page request sends requests for the entire frameset not just the single page.

There is a tool, ieHTTPHeaders, that displays the requests.

I would almost call these spyware. Especially when the MSN is in the search panel.
