CFX_HTTP5 is a great option for CF6.1 users. It's reliable, relatively cheap,
allows for quite a bit of control, and asynchronous requests can be made using
it: http://www.cftagstore.com/tags/cfxhttp5.cfm

When I needed to set up link checking and tie it in with our database back when
only CF6 was out, I found that in the course of 3,000 requests, cfhttp wasn't
reliable enough (it had errors every 300-400 requests or so) and didn't give me
the control I needed.

So I searched around and found this excellent tag. It's stable enough that I
haven't changed over now that we've upgraded to CF7.

Good luck,

Hi everyone,

I'm using cfhttp to request data from an external interface. It takes
roughly 40/45 seconds but as the data increases the time taken will also
increase.

It's an ideal situation use Coldfusion 7's Async Gatway but unfortunately
the app is running on MX 6.1. Is it possible to do Asynchronous requests in
Mx 6.1 and if so how?

Any ideas appreciated.

Cheers, Pete (aka lad4bear)
