Yup. Google has a bug in their Unicode mail support, it seems. Check
your settings and make sure that you do NOT have Unicode encoding
checked - that causes Gmail to send stuff as base64 encoded...

Outgoing message encoding:
Learn more              
        Use default text encoding for outgoing messages
        Use Unicode (UTF-8) encoding for outgoing messages
