Cody is right. Your MG Controller should simply grab the necessary data out of the Event and pass it on to the Service layer.

In fact, if you build your service layer and Model in general to be generic, you should be able to bypass MG altogether. This means that you could write a simple CFM page that instantiates your ContactService.cfc, and can pass data (including a manually coded struct to mimic your form) to it.

My blog has an example of this. It is a framework independent service component with supporting DAOs and Beans. I didn't put a Gateway in there, but normally use them as Cody mentioned for returning a query set. See the May 8 entry at http://mattw.mxdj.com
