In the context of a simple web application (which is probably on a tight budget), i would say mixins can be very useful.

Sometimes i see approaches evaluated as if the context were a complex enterprise Java application being worked on by a team of 10 or 20 developers over the course of several years. If that's the type of ColdFusion app your working on, then some of the justifications for not using mixins make sense to me.

But otherwise, it's a simple way to quickly inject the functionality of a UDF or a common set of methods into one or more CFC's. There is no point in rewriting your UDF's into a Utils CFC and maintaining that each time you need another UDF just so you can say "I didn't use mixins  ..."

To me in the context of the type of work i usually do, that's not adding any real value to an application, rather the contrary.

Hi Folks,

Syntactically, at least, I think I understand the differences, and I'm
guessing most of you would agree that using cfinclude within a cfc
'smells bad'.

But I'm unclear as to why one would choose one approach over another.
Could some smart folks with experience here could speak to the pros and
cons of each, and how usage might differ?

Thanks
