CFGroovy doesn't require any JEE. I haven't actually tested it (because I don't have an environment), but there's nothing in there that shouldn't run on CF8.0.1 Standard. It takes care of all the magic internally.
Obviously if you're already into the project, changing in the middle is probably not the best bet.
