today macromedia released a new server for managing real-time audio, video, and data connections in flash 6. known as "flashcom," it communicates with flash over a persistent tcp/ip connection (just like xmlsocket), but it uses real actionscript data structures rather than xml, and can send/record audio and video streams. it's nice and full featured with a good server-side (actionscript!) api and good extensibility.
ever take a trip through the actions panel and wonder what NetConnection, Camera, and Microphone were for? go find out..... general info: http://www.macromedia.com/software/flashcom/ hosting partners: http://www.macromedia.com/partners/flashcom/ developer centre: http://www.macromedia.com/desdev/mx/flashcom/ pricing: 10 users, $499 500 users, $4500 - US$ of course... :::Kevin Towes BAA, CFCP, AAGG::: [EMAIL PROTECTED] www.PangaeaNewMedia.ca +1 (416) 922.1600 x251 349 Carlaw Ave., Suite 2C, Toronto M4M2T1 - You are subscribed to the CFUGToronto CFTALK ListSRV.
