Hey John, Just letting you know I've merged your git update series so far to master. Lukas' next series of clean-ups [1] have been rebased off of them, and I'm reviewing those now.
Hopefully Junio will be quick to merge your revert commit upstream, and we can then trudge forward toward git 1.8.1.4 API compatibility.
