Jo,

Would the shared document be available to everyone on the same network, 
in which case (as long as you can paste a link to the document in 
Chandler) you could just use a suitable word processor's versioning 
facilities. OpenOffice has basic but serviceable versioning, for example.

If on the other hand the idea is to send the document as a sort of 
Chandler attachment, that opens all sorts of cans of worms...
