Hi Pete,

The date parsing functionality was a bit of an experiment. So what  
you're experiencing is incompleteness rather than intentional :)

Is what you're asking for essentially a distinction betwee:

xxx *by* date / time = alarm on a note/task
xxx *on* date / time = event
