Hi,

I have been trying to use Chandler as my PIM for a while now but it is
very difficult. It is very slow and uses way too many resources. Here on
my Crunchbang Linux OS it takes ~130MB! Also, the responsiveness of
the interface is poor. Now, this is a resource constrained system
(512MB RAM, 2GB swap, and a 1.8GHz Athlon processor), but I have also
tried it on a 1.6GHz Core2Duo processor with 2GB RAM running Windows
with slightly better results but still not good.

I like the idea that you have but the product could be so much better.
Integration with on-line services could be much better, I mean even
Mozilla Lightning can inter-operate with read and write to Google
Calendar. Another feature that would be nice is to be able to set
multiple alarms and types of alarms. For example I would like to have
an option to send an email reminder in addition to just a pop-up,
since I can't have Chandler running 24/7 and it doesn't run on my cell
phone.

I realize that some of these issues are due to limitations in your
chosen development language. As much as I would like to see it, I
don't think you are going to be a very big commercial success with the
current limitations of the program. I also don't think having an
interpreted language is going to be a selling point if you ever
decided to make a run at gaining traction in the Enterprise. I do hope
I am wrong. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck with the continued
development of Chandler.

Thank you.

Jeffrey C. Johnson
