We can/will reimburse travel (unless a reasonable offer is made and rejected).* *Notes: *This is not a normal Server Admin role. The key component to this position is the surveillance products. *Job Summary:* We are seeking an analytically-minded technician experienced in Microsoft-based platforms and servers. This person will implement and administer applications in support of a newly created security and surveillance unit, perform daily functions required to maintain supported systems and applications while working with critical and sensitive information, and will be responsible for managing all associated incident and request tickets in support of system-wide organizations. The ideal candidate would have excellent problem solving skills and deep experience working in a collaborative team environment. *Key Activities Include:* - Diagnose, resolve and document actions for supported applications. - Install, upgrade, maintain, configure, program software, and maintain application server hardware supported by the security and surveillance unit. Implement necessary patches, hotfixes, service packs, cumulative updates, and upgrades to meet security compliance and application and system integrity. - Plan and implement technical change requests. Schedule system downtime for upgrades or take equipment offline for service. - Maintain scripts used for reporting, monitoring and analysis. Regularly monitor and prepare reports for systems integrity through reporting and analysis. Develop and document technical procedures and processes. - Maintain processes and documentation related to contingency operations, including isolation testing. - Ensure application availability by monitoring hardware and software capacity. *Desired Skills & Experience:* - B.A., B.S. or other baccalaureate/ undergraduate degree with major or specialized courses in: Computer Science or related field of study or equivalent experience, and 7 years’ experiences. - Experience in Windows based platforms and server administration. - Knowledge of: Database systems, such as Informix, SQL, MySQL and Oracle - Scripting products, such as Bash scripts, Visual Basic Scripting, DOS scripts, SQL scripts and PowerShell - Familiarity with SQL Managment Studio - Microsoft Office products - Computer components, such as Storage Area Network, servers and personal computers. - Communication protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and WINS. - Microsoft Group Policy - File/share permissions - Backup/recovery methods - Basic electrical diagnostic tools and hand tools such as multi-meters, toners and punch-down tools. - Operating systems, such as Microsoft, Linux, UNIX. - Access control systems, such as GE Picture Perfect, Facility Commander.
