This Thursday at Change, Shawn McGuire from the Seattle-based global health
nonprofit PATH will be speaking about his work developing solar powered
refrigerators for storing vaccines.

Immunization programs are one of the most successful global health initiatives,
preventing 2.5 million child deaths from fatal diseases annually [WHO].
However, maintaining the infrastructure of refrigeration equipment used keep
vaccines within the appropriate temperature range is challenging, particularly
in low-resource environments. Shawn will discuss the technical design of solar
powered refrigerators and cover the considerations that must be taken into
account when creating a product for use in developing countries.

Join us for lunch this Thursday to learn more about the technical and
logistical challenges of designing solar powered vaccine refrigerators!
