Actually, they make both versions available

Linksys put out a nice press release a month or so ago saying that they 
were switching to VxWorks for the commodity product (1/2 the memory 
footprint = 1/2 the memory they have to buy for it) but that they still 
wanted a Linux version out there for the hobbiests

WRT54GL is the Linux one, WRT54G (version 5 and up) is the VxWorks
