I do have a few other things on the agenda - namely AotR and > CHAOS - but those tapes are a big part of the reason I'm here.
Since all of these tapes (those that still exist, as I recall I turned over quite a few of them to you that were clearly 0x0000 "solo" works way back in 1991 or so, right before I lost contact with you for a solid decade... and, sadly, Waterworlds could almost certainly have been a part of that cache. My memory of that stretch of days is hazy, since it happened days after a major car accident that left Katherine with a cracked sternum and broken ribs, and me with a broken foot /and/ arm, plus we didn't discuss the tapes, I just decided to turn them over to you and you accepted them without comment or discussion. Do you remember any of that time period, such as where /those/ tapes wound up? Either way, I need to get out there (to the shed) specifically to get the box of tapes, find out what's on them. I'm thinking because of the revived memory detailed above that the tapes I kept would be of a more "collaborative" nature, me, you, Jim Pontious, Tito Wals, Neal Nealsberg... I am holding out hope that I did retain certain tapes such as Waterworlds, Marzipan, Exile In The House Of The King... whatever does still exist would be worth getting digital and manipulated with Audacity, since the newest of the tapes are two decades old and the oldest well on three, time is short, perhaps passed in some cases. The tie-in to CHAOS and CFn here is that there are a couple of > musically-related things I would like to get CHAOS involved in - > probably the most immediately interesting is the effort to set up live > streaming video webcasts of club performances from the local music > scene. A good question would be /which/ venue. Probably, in my opinion, the best place, with less red tape, would be Rick Edwards' Chattahoochie Folk Music Society, who I understand has been interested in "all of the above" anyhow, as well as being long time friends of mine, and recent ones of yours, as well. The upcoming show, Mad Tea Party, is on October 13, so probably way too soon I assume, but maybe a good time to discuss... bring Michael Harris together with Rick, Julie, et al and see how that might go. I have some thoughts about how to at least cover the cost of the > broadcasts, and possible make some beer money off it that we can get > into in more depth when we meet. > > I would like to get a concept well-enough defined that we can take it > to the owners and management of the venues, which they in turn can > market to the bands they're trying to draw into the Valley area... In that case, the Folk people, which include the Coin-Op next door, might be a good place to test, develop and "show" what is possible to some of the other more "mainstream" venues. 0x0000 > > > > -- -- Beatnik Night: open mic poetry & music every Thursday at Rhino's w/ Will Dockery and the Shadowville All-Stars http://www.myspace.com/shadowvilleallstars --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "CHAOS706.ORG" group.
