If you have an older desktop linux is perfect for it, depending which distro you get. Those old IQ2k Eater was referring to were like 33Mhz-133Mhz CPU with like 8-32mb ram. IIRC
When I was there I was running slackware on LSIs old POS computer I brought in an old voodoo banshee video card to do the GUI better.
