Drifting off topic, but ...

Yes, and I've even from time to time considered taking the definition of
a task ID out of the hands of the tasking layers and defining it in the
common code as an int(64).  That type doesn't seem unreasonable for the
usage and certainly wouldn't create a problem for the existing tasking
layers, since effectively it's what they're all defining it as anyway!
