In 2001 Jimmy Gaudreau became a member of "The Fine Group," of Robin & Linda Williams. A professional musician for more than 30 years, Jimmy Gaudreau is one of the premier sidemen in constant demand. His first big break came in 1969 when he replaced John Duffey as the mandolin player/tenor singer in the Country Gentlemen. After several years with the Gentlemen, Jimmy went on to help form the groundbreaking band IInd Generation with Eddie Adcock and later the popular Washington-based band Country Store with Keith Whitley. Other bands he has been involved with include, J.D. Crowe & The New South, Spectrum with Bela Fleck, and a nine-year Association with The Tony Rice Unit . . . Jimmy is a founding members of the band Chesapeake, which rocked the bluegrass world when it came on the scene in the early 90's.
Orrin Star is a nationally recognized folk & bluegrass performer and teacher based in the Washington, DC area. Winner of the 1976 National Flatpicking Championship (the largest bluegrass guitar contest in the country), he plays guitar, banjo, mandolin, sings, and performs solo, duo and with his band Orrin Star & the Sultans of String. His repertoire spans old-time, western swing, Celtic and original songwriting in addition to more mainstream bluegrass and folk material. An accomplished storyteller and entertainer (he worked as a stand-up comic for five years in the Boston area) he has appeared on A Prairie Home Companion and has three recordings on Flying Fish Records. He is the author of a popular guitar instruction book ("Hot Licks for Bluegrass Guitar," Oak Publications) and a columnist for Flatpicking Guitar magazine.
