Emil, excuse me, but what is the AIA?

Do you know if the large house on the northwest corner of Calvert and 29th
sold?

Thanks for the news.

Subject: [Chat] Happy New Year! and random chat

Hello to everyone on the Chat list, and a Happy New Year to you all.

Here are some random news items...

I saw in today's Sun that 2608 Calvert went for almost $300,000.
That's amazing! I can't wait to get the assessment on 3040 Guilford!
It's a good thing we qualify for the four percent cap on the increase
in assessed base. It seems a little hard to believe that we got our
house for only $138,000 four years ago.

I know someone who's looking for a small 2- or 3-bedroom house with a decent
size yard in the city, not too far from Charles Village, like Waverly,
Ednor Gardens, Original Northwood, or somewhere around this way.

Thursday night, Kathleen and I were on our way back from Costco, after
shopping for goods for the AIA New Year's Eve Progressive Dinner. As
we were heading up Calvert St., some guy staggered into the middle of
the street. The car in front of me slowed down and came to a stop as
the stranger staggered in front of the car, pumping his fist, put his
hand on the front, then abruptly keeled over on the other side of the
front of the car. We pulled over as did the car in front of us.
Either the guy was ill and collapsed, or maybe he was faking an
accident, because I could tell that the car didn't hit him. People
called 911, police and an ambulance came quickly. There were about 5
witnesses, including us both and some pedestrians, who said that the
stranger wasn't hit. The stranger wanted the officer to file an
accident report, but the officer took our names and numbers and told
the stranger that he wouldn't file a report because there was no
accident. It was nice to see that so many people volunteered to speak
to the officer.

The AIA New Year's Eve Progressive Dinner was quite the success, with
over 20 people participating. If we get more next year, we'll have to
spread it across different houses at the same time and call it a
Rotating Dinner instead! Shelley Treadway brought shrimp etouffe as a
main dish and a yule log cake (with bark made of chocolate icing and
mushrooms made of meringue) as dessert.
