Christmas Tree Recycling Begins Next Week

Public Works Director George L. Winfield today issued a reminder to citizens to recycle their Christmas trees. Public Works makes it easy for everyone to participate in this environmental effort in two ways: through curbside residential pick ups and the annual Christmas tree drop-off. Curbside collection of trees begins on Thursday, January 6, 2005. Trees are collected on your second trash collection days, which are Thursday, Friday or Saturday.

The Christmas Tree Recycling Program provides mulch for our community gardens and parks. Citizens should remove all tinsel and ornaments from trees before they are recycled.

Curbside:
Trees will be collected from residents on the second trash collection day of the week through Saturday, February 5, 2004 The trees should be placed in the same location as your trash and set out no later than 7 a.m. on collection day.

Drop-off:
Residents may bring their trees for mulching on Saturday, January 8th and Sunday, January 9th, to the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute Parking lot, located at 1400 West Cold Spring Lane. Trees will be collected from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 8th and from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 9th. Participants interested in receiving mulch should bring along bags or containers for this purpose.
