Most human activities - including computing - are largely social activities. A result of this is a tendency for us to accrete problems where no one really dares to go in and fix them because "that's not what you do", and "are they really problems to begin with?" It's a variation on the "whenever you create something you are destroying what you created it out of" issue. Of course, we have some of our own issues of this sort, here in J, which we are in the process of resolving. But that characteristic doesn't make us unique - that characteristic makes us blandly normal. Sadly. (What makes us unique is the problems we solve.)
