Actually, I’ve read /Alan Turing: The Enigma/. It was excellent. As one reviewer remarked of the film: "They say the movie was "inspired" by the book. Personally, I didn't see any evidence that the moviemakers even read the book.”

A much more accurate portrayal of Turing can be seen in /Breaking the Code/, the BBC’s original 1996 production for television. A full-length upload of this production can be viewed on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S23yie-779k .

And speaking of code, I don’t know if you saw this recent BBC report of the smallest chess game ever coded — a mere 487 bytes!

Hi, Peter,

I just received this review from a colleague who is a Bletchley Park af(f)icionado:

"We went to see The Imitation Game yesterday afternoon and found it, well, very average. It was one of those movies best viewed from a borrowed DVD."

I haven't see it yet, but do have the book, if you'd like to borrow it.
