Interesting article, thanks. I do think the article was a bit harsh on poor old PHP. Even though it is, as the article pointed out, a Fractal of bad design, it does get the job done, which IMHO is more important than having a flashy type system or whatnot. Plus, being easy for beginners, easy to get work done fast, and having a large base of libraries are all qualities in their own right. And it was never ever designed for huge websites, the fact Facebook still uses it makes me wonder about their management, even if they do compile some of it to C++ first. I am not a PHP fanboy, but I thought I would stick up for the guy.
