One of the more mild surprises I have had coming to J is the ijs filename
suffix convention. Is there any information on its etymology?

I would assume it's an initialism for something like "Interpreted J Script",
but my default expectation had been for a simple, one character "j" extension.
Perhaps the Windows 8.3 filename convention had some bearing on this choice in
the early days of J?
