I've recently been playing with NLP tokenisation of pretty massive text
data, and I used symbols too. That ended up in using ~600k unique symbols
in arrays of millions of symbols. It ran just fine on a very standard
laptop.

What makes you think you'd need to reset them? AFAIK the only symbols that
really count are the ones you store in an array for looking them up in.
