John Marlan Poindexter (born August 12, 1936) is a retired United States naval officer and Department of Defense <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Department_of_Defense> official. He was Deputy National Security Advisor <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deputy_National_Security_Advisor> and National Security Advisor <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Security_Advisor_(United_States)> during the Reagan administration <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reagan_administration>. He was convicted in April 1990 of multiple felonies as a result of his actions in the Iran–Contra affair <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran%E2%80%93Contra_affair>, but his convictions were reversed on appeal in 1991. During the George W.
