The UK Maths Trust publishes several series of books, primarily to help schools introduce mathematical ideas to interested pupils.
I've designed the new standard UKMT covers, using J to produce TikZ output, which is then fed through LaTeX to yield the PDF required by the printers. In particular, the background of the covers features an aperiodic tiling by 'turtles' as discovered by amateur mathematician David Smith in 2023 (the previous covers featured Penrose's kites and darts). Here's a link to the first of the new books, Geoff Smith's 'A Mathematical Olympiad Primer II': https://twitter.com/UKMathsTrust/status/1701537476387410413 Many thanks to Henry Rich and others for continuing to develop J; hope you're pleased to see another way in which it's being used. -- Ewart Shaw [J.E.H.Shaw] http://www.ewartshaw.com [Work in Progress] [email protected] http://www.facebook.com/ewart.shaw 3 ((4&({*.(=+/))++/=3:)@([:,/0&,^:(i.3)@|:"2^:2))&.>@]^:(i.@[) <#:3 6 2 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For information about J forums see http://www.jsoftware.com/forums.htm
