Gab,
I have missed the assembly build, too. When I try using the apache-release
profile I'm getting this error result (s. below). Does that profile require a
special environment?

The assembly plugin is only configured with a proper assembly
descriptor in the "apache-release profile".
Can you just try something like:
'mvn clean install -Papache-release'
?
