I had the same problem while trying to do a configure on Cherokee on my FreeBSD 7.0. Finally I installed cherokee-devel. Also after doing a make install on b1223 I can't see anything on mods-available / sites-available dirs.. Perhaps 0.6 don't work with that dirs? And my last issue is that I can't use cherokee-admin..
