I guess Cherokee it's compiled with MySQL support enabled, because the package maintainer had to choose between the different options to provide the most versatile package :) Please notice that this doesn't mean that you're installing MySQL or that MySQL is required to run Cherokee. If you don't want MySQL support at all, you can compile Cherokee from sources (that's what I do).
