Hello.
I've been trying to get MySQL Authentication to work for one of my sites.
I'm guessing this is the correct location to ask questions about this. I
don't want to assume it's an actual bug yet. This won't be the first time
I've tried to set something up the way I think it should work and found out
I ws doing it completely and utterly wrong.
I have a vServer set up on a wildcard hostmatch for *.example.com (name
changed to protect the innocent).
This vServer currently works with three rules:
- Directory /administration. (Set to only accept HTTPS in "Secure.")
Nonfinal
- Extensions php (fast CGI handler) Nonfinal
- Default (List & Send)
What I want to do is add MySQL Auth to Directory /administration to pull
from the users database. So, I go to the Directory /administration rule
and...
- Validation Mechanism: MySQL server
- Methods: Basic
- Realm: app0
MYSQL CONNECTION:
- Host: *private IP of database host, verified correct*
- DB User: *database username, verified correct*
- DB Password: *database user password, verified correct*
- Database: *verified database name*
- SQL Query: SELECT password FROM users WHERE username = '${user}'
- Password Hash: None
Save the changes, and graceful restart. BAM. All vservers are down.
Clicking "Start Server" or "Stop Server" in the admin interface does no
good, nothing happens. I have to killall cherokee, turn off MySQL
Authentication, and then manually restart the server from the command line.
I'm about to go insane. And it wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to
re-type-in all the details every time I want to switch it on or off... that
just adds an extra error vector.
I'm running Cherokee 1.0.9 on Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid. I've
installed libcherokee-mod-mysql with apt-get. The server happily runs PHP
applications against the known-good-ip address used to configure the MySQL
authentication system.
The worst part is I either get a 500 error (with no details in
cherokee.error), or the whole server goes tearing down all my other sites
with it when I try to get MySQL Authentication to work, so I don't even know
where to start looking. I would really like to get this working but haven't
a clue where to begin debugging this. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you for your time.
