I agree with you. I think when LAMP label was created OSS wasn't as known as today, and it helped to describe a platform that was reliable, efficient and affordable. But right now it seems that some distros want us to move toward brands. No more Linux but Ubuntu, Android, whatever, ... and the 'L' from LAMP is not that relevant. Something similar is happening with PHP. You must be expert in a framework, or wordpress, or drupal... And we could go on with the rest. You know, Apache it's not the only reliable choice anymore.
